Amongst the Middle East region Egypt is probably one of the best-knownAfrican countries for many valid reasons.
The official name of Egypt is the Arab Republic of Egypt and covers an area of approximately twice the size of France or more than twice the size of theUS state California – which is 1 Mio square km coverage.
Thereof only 6 to 7% of the Egyptian territory is inhabited (estimation) mainly on the plains of the Nile Valley, Nile Delta, the norther coastal areas of the Red Sea and the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. Having said these large parts of Egypt are desert areas (Eastern Sahara).
Egypt’s historic traces go back more than 7000 years and there where several phases: the Pharaonic era, the Greek followed by the Roman era developing into the Coptic and finally the Islamic era which extends to the modern or today’s era.
All those historic eras have left uncountable traces on many levels and a rich history which resulted in a gigantic open-air museum.
Besides the visual reminders of the impressive past modern science originates in Egypt as well: sciences in astronomy, medicine, and engineering. Also, a different layer has its roots back in those times such as psychology, spiritual and physical routines.
Not to forget that some events mentioned in the bible can be traced back to Egypt amongst them the famous Moses Mountain on which Moses, the Hebrew prophet, got dictated the 10 commandments directly from almighty God.
There is a huge number of prophets and saints related to Egypt as well; let’s just take the example of the young Egyptian woman born in Thebes (today Luxor) who has become famous for her healing power who has lived and died in Switzerland in the year 320 in Bad Zurzach, known as the saint Verena.
